The Selangor Rail Council Meeting 1/2026 was successfully concluded today at Menara Prasarana, marking a significant milestone in shaping the future of the state’s rail transit landscape.

Chaired by YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Chief Minister of Selangor, the council convened key institutional and industry stakeholders to deliberate on long-term strategic readiness. The discussion focused on how Selangor is proactively preparing for the expansion of its rail network, driven by major upcoming projects, including the LRT3, ECRL and Jajaran Rel Selangor.

Reflecting on operational lessons from current assets—particularly localised maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities and specialised talent pipelines—the council engaged in a high-level brainstorming session. The resulting strategies focus heavily on infrastructure planning, comprehensive capability development and integrated supply chains to seamlessly absorb these future assets into a self-sustaining ecosystem. 

A sustainable and integrated rail industry is critical to Selangor’s economic resilience, and today’s meeting underscores our commitment to bridging the gap between national blueprints and state-level execution.

This strategic gathering successfully brought together the entire spectrum of the automotive value chain - encompassing government agencies, suppliers and OEMs.

Invest Selangor successfully concluded the Invest Selangor Update Series: Insights Into The Latest Opportunities for SME & Mid-Tier Companies, bringing together industry players, SMEs, Mid-Tier Companies, strategic agencies, and business leaders on a unified platform to explore opportunities in growth, innovation, sustainability, and capital markets.

The programme received a very encouraging response from more than 250 participants from various industries and strategic sectors across Selangor.

The programme featured insightful sharing sessions covering:

Invest Selangor Berhad successfully organised the Task Force on West Asia Crisis – Exploring New Opportunities meeting earlier, chaired by YBhg. Dato’ Mohamed Rafique Merican bin Mohd Wahiduddin Merican, Independent Non- Executive Director of AMMB Holdings Berhad.

The session brought together key economic stakeholders, including YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Muhammad Bin Ibrahim, former Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, representatives from PETRONAS, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Worldwide Holdings Berhad, as well as other relevant agencies and industry players, reflecting a strong multi-sector commitment towards addressing emerging global challenges.

The meeting served as a strategic platform to deliberate on the economic and industrial implications of the West Asia crisis on Selangor’s economy, while also identifying potential new opportunities arising from the evolving global landscape. Key discussions focused on strengthening resilience across critical sectors, enhancing supply chain stability, and exploring strategic interventions to mitigate potential disruptions. Emphasis was also placed on deepening cross-sector collaboration to ensure the continued sustainability and competitiveness of Selangor’s key industries.

The Task Force meeting concluded by reinforcing the importance of coordinated and proactive action among public and private sector stakeholders in navigating external economic shocks.

The strong engagement and shared commitment demonstrated during the session will pave the way for more targeted and effective strategies to safeguard industrial continuity, strengthen economic resilience, and support Selangor’s long-term stability and growth amidst global uncertainties.
